The Alice Atkinson caravan park offers powered or unpowered sights as well as two new 2-bedroom units.
Outback accommodation offers private rooms with ensuites.
The Breakaway is an AirBNB style accommodation for couples or small groups.

Sandstone has 2 airstrips. A north-south and an east-west both of which are gravel.
The Works Manager must be notified of any intention to land on 9963 5802 or 0457 993 008.
There is a landing fee of $25.00 (RFDS exempt)
At present the only flights which land are those of the RFDS, landing fortnightly with the Doctor and/or in the case of emergencies.
Due to weather restrictions, the airstrip will be closed during times of heavy rainfall.
The airstrip is not manned and the Shire carries out routine wildlife inspections before flight arrivals. ( please notify the Shire on 08 9963 5802 or 0457 993 008 if you intend to use the strip)
There is also an “emergency landing strip” which is located on the Sandstone – Leinster Rd. This is only used if the main strips are closed and the RFDS needs to land in emergency situations.
Please note that there are no banks or ATMs in Sandstone.
The Shire runs a community bus each fortnight on Wednesdays (when avail.) that goes to Mt Magnet for the day so residents can do shopping and run errands.
It is available free for anyone (local or visitor), but you must phone the shire office to confirm dates and to book as spots are limited.

In 1907 the Wardens Court operated out of the brick building which still stands today. Since 1923 the building has been home to the Sandstone Remote Community School.
Unfortunately due to lack of the number of children the school is now closed.
It is now hired out for group bookings including an annual school of the air camp.

Both diesel and unleaded petrol are now available 24 hours a day from the self serve fuel station on the corner of Oroya and Payne Streets. You will need an EFTPOS card to operate the machine.
Telstra is the only service provider in this area.
The Sandstone golf course is used regularly by the Sandstone community and we welcome visitors to play a round. Golf clubs can be hired from the Visitors Centre on 99635061 (April to Sept) or contact the Shire office.
A Bowling Green is the latest addition to Sandstone. Feel free to play a game or two (BYO bowls) or join in on one of the regular community games.

Please note there are no large supermarkets in Sandstone.
There is a small shop on the corner of Oroya and Hack Street with basic supplies. (period closure 08/01/2025 until further notice)
Outback Accommodation, on the corner of Oroya and Thaduna Street, also have some basic grocery items available.
Also note that there are no dine in or takeaway food outlets for evening meals.
The Post Office Cafe is open from 7am to 2pm.

The Sandstone Library is located within the Shire Office. Opening times are 8.30am – 4.30pm Mon – Fri. Library books are obtained via the exchange system from the State Library of WA and each month a new allocation of books is received.
Internet facilities are also available at the library including 1 computer specifically designed and setup for seniors access.
The Sandstone Nursing Post was opened in 2002. The Nursing Post operates every Thursday with the additional services of the RFDS Doctor in attendance every second Thursday. In the event of an emergency an Ambulance Service can be contacted on 000 or call R.F.D.S on 1800 625 800.
The Post Office Cafe was opened mid 2023 and offers a variety of delicious options, for example, Post Office Parcels (wrap), Toasted Sandwiches, London Bridge Croissants, freshly baked Meat and Salad Rolls. They also offer a selection of sweet treats, coffee, tea, milkshakes and cool drinks.
Open Everyday from 07:00am until 02:00pm so don't miss out.
Opening days may vary with public holidays and over the Christmas period.
The Shire offices look after all post services with delivery days on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
Please note they offer only basic post services and cannot do banking or other more in-depth tasks.
There is one public toilet facility in town and is Located next to the visitor centre on Oroya street.
The Sandstone Recreation Centre is available to hire for social and sporting functions. There is also a golf course and bowling green available for use with golf sets available for hire from the Heritage Museum and Visitor Information Centre located on Hack Street.

Open everyday 9am-4pm (between April & October only) the visitor centre is the place to go for all the information on the must see sights and history of Sandstone.
They have many interesting items on display from the early1900s as well as historical photos and folders to look through. The centre also stocks locally made products, souvenirs and books about life ''back in the day'' to take home.
Located on the corner of Hack street and Oroya street, next to the Phillip Lefroy park and across from the cafe.
The Water Park was officially opened in 2011, with thanks to funding from Royalties for Regions.
It is located in the centre of town near the Visitor Centre and is a popular spot for locals and visitors to enjoy and cool down on those HOT summery Sandstone days.
