Nungarra Cemetery
Nungarra is considered the first real township in the area with a hospital and services needed for a growing prospecting town. It enjoyed a boom of sorts between 1903-1907, however, now the cemetery is all that remains of the old townsite.
Nungarra cemetery is fenced off with plaques laid at the entrance & a few original grave sites scattered within the fenced area. Further along the track is the lonely grave of Andrew William Irvine who in 1904, at only 37, collapsed and died just three weeks after completing the building of the state battery at Black range.
Access is along the Paynes find road (about 12kms). See the visitor centre for detailed directions.
Booklets available at the visitor centre for a small fee.
Please note the road to the cemetery is gravel - drive to conditions.
