The Sandstone Shire has a twice weekly rubbish collection.

Monday morning (residential and commercial).

Thursday morning (commercial only).


Rubbish Tip

Sandstone has a self-service rubbish disposal site just out of town on the Sandstone-Leinster Road. There are areas for general rubbish as well as metal, tires, vegetation etc please drop in the correct locations.

Waste Oil

There is a waste oil disposal facility for residents in the Shire Works Depot applicable to residential quantities and is available during normal business hours. Contact the Shire Offices for more information.

Larger quantities may be accepted by prior arrangement.

Sandstone Wheelie bins are fitted with locally designed stickers promoting litter prevention.

Sandstone was a finalist in the WA Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Award in both 2023 under the general appearance category and in 2024 for the litter action, environmental sustainability and the overall state award!
